Three people were killed in a collision between an ambulance and a truck carrying a patient in Godagari, Rajshahi. Two women and an ambulance driver are among the deceased. Three others were injured in the same incident. The collision between a truck and an ambulance took place on the Rajabari Checkpost Road in Godagari Upazila at around 5 am on Monday (March 3). The ambulance carrying the patient was completely mangled in the accident.
The deceased are Jafar Iqbal (45) of Hosniganj area of Rajshahi metropolis, Sundari (60) of Thakurjouban village in Godagari Upazila, and Adari (35) of the same village. The three died on the spot. After the incident, the three were rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Muhammad Ruhul Amin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station in Rajshahi, said that police were sent to the spot after receiving information. Three people were killed in the incident. Three others were injured. Police rescued the injured with the help of upazila fire service personnel.
The OC said that the ambulance carrying the patient was going from Godagari to Rajshahi. There was a head-on collision with a truck at Rajabari. Three people were killed on the spot. Their bodies were recovered and taken to the Upazila Health Complex. The injured have been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. After the incident, the relatives of the deceased have been informed. A decision will be taken on handing over the bodies when they reach the police station. Meanwhile, Dr. Shankar K Biswas, in-charge of the emergency department at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said that three people injured in the accident have been admitted to the hospital. However, their condition is critical.
