The court has ordered the freezing of 39 bank accounts of former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury. These accounts contain Tk 52.683 million. Dhaka Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib issued the order on Wednesday (March 5) following an application by the ACC.

ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam said that money laundering allegations against him are under investigation. Today, the ACC filed an application to freeze 39 bank accounts. Later, the court granted the application and issued the order. The ACC says that a team has been formed to investigate the money laundering allegations against Saifuzzaman Chowdhury. It is known that he may transfer or transfer these movable properties during the investigation.

In addition, after the fall of the Awami League government, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered the seizure of all bank accounts in the names of Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife Rukmila Zaman. Later, under Section 23(1)(c) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012, the personal accounts of Saifuzzaman’s brother Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Anisuzzaman’s wife Imrana Zaman Chowdhury and daughter Anisha Zaman and transactions in accounts operated in the name of their privately owned entities were ordered to be suspended for a period of 30 days in the first phase.
