An eight-year-old girl was raped while visiting her sister’s house in Magura. The girl was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an unconscious state on Thursday evening. The police have arrested the girl’s brother-in-law and her father in this incident.

The girl’s family members said that their home is in Sreepur Upazila of Magura. The girl had visited her elder sister’s house a few days ago. Last Thursday around 11 am, her sister’s mother-in-law brought the girl to Magura Hospital in an unconscious state. Later, the girl’s mother came to the hospital. The accused’s wife, Zahera Begum, said, “I went to the field. When I returned, I saw a girl lying there. I condemn this incident and demand punishment for those involved in the incident. My husband is a very bad-natured person. He always misbehaves with me. If I protest about anything, I get various kinds of torture.”

Doctors at Magura Hospital said that an immediate examination revealed a mark on the girl’s neck. It seems that she was squeezed with something. There are scratches on several parts of the body. She has suffered a lot of bleeding. It is believed that the incident took place at the house where she had come to visit. Based on the complaint of the child’s family, her brother-in-law and his father have been taken into custody for questioning. He said that initially it is believed that the child was raped.
