Garment workers have lifted their blockade after seven hours of protests over the death of a female colleague in a car accident in the capital’s Banani, giving an ultimatum to the police. Traffic has resumed. The protesters lifted the blockade around 1:30 pm on Monday on the condition that the police arrest the perpetrators within 48 hours and provide compensation.

This morning, a garment worker named Minara Akhter was killed after being hit by a car in the Chairman Bari area of ​​Banani. Another garment worker named Sumaiya Akhter was injured at the time. The injured has been admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital.

After the incident, garment factory workers blocked roads and staged a protest in protest. This caused severe traffic jams in the Banani, Mohakhali and Gulshan areas. The elevated expressway was also brought to a standstill.
