A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped at a wedding in Manikganj Sadar Upazila. The victim’s father filed a case with Sadar Police Station on Tuesday night. The police have arrested a teenager accused.

According to the complaint and the child’s family, the child’s father’s village is in Manikganj Sadar Upazila. Due to his job, he lives in Safipur Upazila of Tangail with his wife and children. Last Friday afternoon, he came to his village home with his two daughters and wife for his niece’s wedding. That afternoon, a teenager (15) took the three-year-old girl to a restaurant near the house on the pretext of buying her chocolates and raped her.

He is a relative of the child. Later, the child fell ill. When her physical condition deteriorated on Sunday morning, the child was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty at the health complex informed the family that the child had been raped. Later, the child was admitted to Tangail Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

In this regard, Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Aman Ullah said on Wednesday afternoon that a teenager has been arrested from Tangail Municipality in a case filed last night on charges of raping a child. Preparations are underway to send him to the juvenile court.
