UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is arriving in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Quoting official sources, BSS reported that an Emirates flight (EK-586) carrying Guterres will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5 pm. After Guterres arrives in Dhaka, he will be received by Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain before proceeding to the Intercontinental Hotel.

Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain and the Principal Advisor’s High Representative on Rohingya Issues and Priorities Dr. Khalilur Rahman will meet Guterres at the hotel at 9 am on Friday. Later, the UN chief will meet Principal Advisor Dr. Yunus at the Principal Advisor’s office at 10 am.

After the meeting, Guterres will travel to Cox’s Bazar on a commercial flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to visit the Rohingya camps. Disaster Management and Relief Advisor Farooq E Azam will welcome him upon his arrival at Cox’s Bazar Airport. Principal Advisor Professor Yunus will join Guterres for an iftar with about 100,000 Rohingya in Cox’s Bazar later in the day. Guterres will return to the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka in the evening.
