On the night of September 9, 2023, two central leaders of the Chhatra League and a leader of Dhaka University were taken from BIRDEM Hospital and detained at Shahbagh Police Station and severely beaten. The then ADC Harun Or Rashid of the Ramna Division of the Police led the beating. He was later suspended by the Home Ministry.

Regarding the origin of the incident, the then ADC (Additional Deputy Commissioner) of DMP Sanjida Afrin, wife of President’s APS Azizul Haque, said that she had gone to BIRDEM Hospital that evening for treatment. She took the help of ADC Harun Or Rashid as a colleague to meet the doctor. At that time, her husband Azizul came to the hospital with some people and beat ADC Harun.

This incident created quite a stir across the country at that time. After this incident, Harun was first transferred to Rangpur Range Police. After that, he was withdrawn from there and brought to Dhaka. He was made OSD after August 5. In the same incident, DMP ADC Sanjida was first transferred to Rangpur Range, but was kept in DMP as she did not join there. She was also made OSD after August 5. For the same reason, former President’s APS Mamun (Sanjida’s husband) was also made OSD after August 5.

Police sources said that all three are in Dhaka as OSDs. ADC Sanjida and Harun regularly visit the Police Command Center and appear. On the other hand, APS Mamun is said to be in Dhaka as OSD. And the police say that Mamun and Sanjida are now together. Regarding ADC Sanjida, DMP’s Deputy Commissioner (DC Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that ADC Sanjida is currently on OSD. She is not in charge of any department of DMP.
