Crowds gather at Asia’s funeral

The funeral of the child Asia, who was raped and killed in Magura, was held at the city’s Nomani Maidan. Asia’s body reached Magura Stadium after 5:30 pm by an army helicopter from Dhaka. Thousands of people attended the funeral of Asia at the city’s Nomani Maidan at 7 pm. The funeral was conducted by the Pesh Imam of Magura Central Jame Mosque, Hafez Maulana Mufti Habibur Rahman. After the funeral, Asia’s body was taken to her home in Zaria village in Sabdalpur union of Sreepur upazila for burial.
At that time, students protested in the city demanding justice. The protest procession circled the main roads of the city and blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhaina area. When the news of the death of child Asia reached her home in Zaria village in Sabdalpur union of Sreepur upazila of Magura, her relatives broke down in tears. Hundreds of people from different places rushed to Asia’s house. The entire area was in mourning.
