The traditional Baha festival of the Munda, Orao, and Kharia communities was held at the Durgabari Mandap of Mrittinga Tea Garden in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday (March 14) afternoon, organized by the Manipuri Lalit Kala Academy.
Originally, before the start of agricultural work, when people were dependent on nature, they would welcome the new nature when the leaves of the trees fell at the end of winter and the trees were filled with new leaves and flowers. They believed that nature would be pleased with this and give more fruits. The Baha festival was started with the hope that the safety of human life would increase. The Munda, Orao, and Kharia communities performed various rituals and music throughout the day in the festival grounds.
The discussion meeting of the Baha festival was special guests were Srimangal Range Officer Nazmul Haque, Local Forest Officer Zulfikar Ali, UP member Dhana Bauri, Convener of Kamalganj Press Club MA Wahid Rulu, General Secretary of Munda Samaj Kalyan Parishad Laxman Munda, and President of the Orao Bhasha Sanskritik Raksha Committee Puran Orao.
