April has been a terrible month in recent years due to intense heat waves. Last year, the temperature in this month broke a 76-year record. A continuous heat wave of 35 days from April to May was rare in recorded history. That terrible April is coming again every year. The temperature has already started to rise. A mild heat wave is sweeping over Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga districts. According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, the ongoing heat wave may spread across the country.
Meteorologists have warned that the temperature in April is breaking the previous year’s record every year. According to past records, continuous heat waves are not seen every year. Due to which the number of thunderstorms may increase this year. However, although extreme conditions may not be seen like last year, the temperature will remain higher than normal.
According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), in 2024, for the first time, the temperature will exceed the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The previous year it had exceeded 1.45 degrees Celsius. Thus, the temperature has been continuously breaking the previous record for the last few years. In line with that, this year too, the temperature increase may break the record.
Advance preparation is needed to deal with disasters. Along with the government’s long-term plan, strong preparations must be made before the disaster begins.
