Nahid Islam resigns

Md. Nahid Islam resigned from the post of advisor to the interim government today. This information was revealed by the office of the chief advisor. Nahid Islam was serving as the advisor to the ministries of information and broadcasting and posts, telecommunications and information technology. A new political party will be formed on the initiative of the anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizens Committee. Nahid Islam will lead this party. That is why there was discussion for a few days that he would resign from the post of advisor. This new political party is going to be launched next Friday (February 28).

There was a disagreement about who would come as the member secretary. Based on the agreement, Akhtar Hossain’s name is largely final for this post. He is now the member secretary of the National Citizens Committee. Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah can be seen as the main organizers and spokespersons of the party.

On the other hand, Ali Ahsan Jonayed’s name is being considered for the post of senior joint convener based on an agreement with former leaders of Chhatra Shibir who are in the National Citizen Committee. And the current convener of the National Citizen Committee, Nasiruddin Patwari, may come as the party’s senior joint member secretary. Nahid Islam, a student of the sociology department of Dhaka University, became a familiar face by serving as a spokesperson during the anti-discrimination student movement’s anti-quota movement.
