Former minister and freedom fighter Abdullah Al Noman’s death has been mourned by the interim government’s chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. In a condolence message on Tuesday, the chief advisor said, “Abdullah Al Noman was a talented leader in Bangladeshi politics. This brave freedom fighter participated in the great liberation war in 1971. Abdullah Al Noman remained active in politics from the early sixties until his last breath.

Active in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), he was elected as a member of parliament three times from the Chittagong-9 constituency. The former minister served as the Minister of Fisheries and Food in the Bangladesh government. Outside the political spectrum, he was respected by people of all parties in Chittagong. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.’
