Despite the title talk, Bangladesh’s exit from the Champions Trophy has been confirmed after two matches. The group stage match against Pakistan is now a fight to keep the rules for both teams. The Tigers will return home after playing this match on Thursday (February 27). Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s team is scheduled to return home the next day after playing the match to keep the rules against Pakistan. However, the Tigers do not have time to rest when they return home. After that, Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Tests against Zimbabwe at home.
Bangladesh’s next foreign tour is next May. Bangladesh will again go to Pakistan to play three ODIs and T20Is. However, the Tigers may have another duel with the Pakistan cricket team this year. Pakistan may visit Bangladesh immediately after Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka in June-July. The PCB has agreed to come to Bangladesh in July-August and play another series of three ODIs and T20Is.
The proposal came during a meeting between Bangladesh Cricket Board President Farooq Ahmed and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai, amid the ongoing Champions Trophy. “BCB and PCB are in talks (about a three-match ODI and T20 series) and at the moment both the boards are positive about it,” BCB’s head of cricket operations Shahriar Nafees told Cricbuzz on Tuesday.
The Tigers will end the year playing at home. The Tigers will play two Tests and three ODIs and T20Is against Ireland in the final series.
