Residents of the Kamardah area in the Nawabpur Union of Baliakandi Upazila, Rajbari district, have submitted a complaint letter to the district commissioner against sub-contractor Ruhul Amin for allegedly stealing and misappropriating government materials meant for the road repair work on the Beruli Market Road.
In the complaint, the locals stated that Ruhul Amin has been working as a sub-contractor for the road repair from Kamardah to Beruli Market, specifically from the Shikjan area in the Mrigi Union of Kalukhali Upazila. However, to misappropriate the broken road’s gravel from the asphalt, he has stored materials in the jungle behind the tea stall at Shikjan Market and between the brick kiln and mosque on the Dakhali-Kashikhali road adjacent to Bathundia Market. According to the tender schedule, this gravel should be mixed with the road using a roller. Additionally, new gravel needs to be purchased for the roadwork. Instead, the contractor is preparing to use discarded and damaged asphalt gravel for the road. When residents intervened, the sub-contractor threatened them in various ways. In this situation, the community has urgently demanded a thorough investigation and appropriate action.
