In recognition of service, bravery and heroic deeds, members of the police force are awarded the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and the President’s Police Medal (PPM). These medals are considered very prestigious in the police service. The latest news is that the BPM and PPM medals of 103 police officers, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, have been withdrawn.
This information was given in a notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Public Security Division (Police-2 Branch) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Toushif Ahmed on Sunday (February 23). It said that the Bangladesh Police Medal-2018 (BPM) or Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service) and the President’s Police Medal (PPM) or President’s Police Medal (PPM-Service) awarded to the following 103 officers directly involved in the controversial 10th National Parliament election held on December 30, 2018 have been withdrawn by order.
The notification further states that the officers whose medals were withdrawn have been instructed to return all the money previously received related to the medals.
