CR Abrar joins advisory council

Former Dhaka University professor CR Abrar (Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar) is joining the advisory council of the interim government. He will take oath at Bangabhaban at 11 am today, Wednesday (March 5).

The press secretary said that he will probably get the responsibility of the education ministry. Professor CR Abrar, mentioning many renowned teachers of Dhaka University, said that he will take oath on Wednesday. Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud had been saying for a long time that he could not work in two ministries at the same time. Since he is at an advanced stage, he has a very big responsibility in the Planning Ministry. That is why Professor CR Abrar is joining the advisory council.

Refugee and labor migration expert Professor CR Abrar was born on August 17, 1952 in Faridpur. His father is Abdus Sattar Chowdhury and mother is Sophia Sultana. After passing secondary and higher secondary from Mirzapur Cadet College, he joined Dhaka University in 1972. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in International Relations from the Department of International Relations. He then obtained his MA in the same subject from the University of Sussex, UK, and his PhD from Griffith University, Australia. He has been teaching at Dhaka University for four decades since 1979. Incidentally, the current Education Advisor Dr. Wahid Uddin Mahmud has also been serving as the Planning Ministry in addition to this ministry.
