The final stage of the six-lane upgrade of the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road has been stalled for a long time. The construction of the section of the road from the signboard to Chandmari was completed almost a year ago. But the work of about one kilometer of the road from Chandmari to Chashara has not been completed yet, causing inconvenience to commuters. This road has become one of the main reasons for traffic jams in Narayanganj city all day long.
In addition, there are large potholes across the road. As a result, vehicles have to move in a wobbly manner. Sometimes they also face major accidents. And it seems that no one is looking into these matters. According to the district Roads and Highways Department (SOH), the length of the road from Chashara to the signboard is 8.15 kilometers. It is also known as the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road. The road connects Narayanganj district town with the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet highways.
The work has not been completed yet. Especially after the Awami League government came to power on August 5, amid the anti-discrimination student movement, this work has been completely halted. There is no certainty as to when it will start. And the people of Narayanganj city are suffering immensely due to the non-completion of this work. Although the concerned authorities have always been giving messages of hope.
