It is not the usual look, but there are additional preparations on the occasion of Eid. 175 launches are waiting, which will leave on various routes in the southern region.

The launches will start the official Eid journey with passengers from Wednesday (March 26). Still, many are traveling by river route in advance to give some relief and extra time to their families. A woman named Munni Akhter said, “As Eid approaches, the crowd will increase. It becomes difficult to take the child then. That is why I am leaving early. The child’s father will leave later.”

The idle time of the river path workers has increased and the busyness has increased. Vitality has returned to the Hakdake ghat. They hope to make up for the shock of the year. Launch employees said, “The number of launch passengers has decreased after the construction of the Padma Bridge. I hope to get some passengers during the Eid period.” The port authorities are also cautious about the Eid journey. The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has clear instructions, no irregularities will be tolerated. The launch’s license will be revoked if it charges extra fare or extra passengers. In addition, law enforcement agencies are on the alert to make the Eid journey hassle-free and safe, and preparations have also been made to resolve traffic congestion in the ghat area.
