Bangladeshi women are an example of pushing forward despite obstacles. There is no room for debate on this. In the evolution of time, women, like the eternal stars, can weave the melody of a quiet river with their needle and thread, and with that needle, they can perfectly find out the hidden thorns on the path.
Whether anyone admits it or not, there is no hesitation in saying this after looking at history. In our progressive-civilized society, women have not been dependent on each other and have proudly participated in all the development activities of the country and the nation. Starting with the anti-British movement, the language movement, the freedom struggle, and the fearless participation of women in the movements that took place one after another on the soil of Bengal after the country’s independence, women were the bearers of a glorious chapter.
Today, in view of Women’s Day, at this juncture of women’s awakening, women have once again written a glorious story in the history of Bangladesh, which is the July 24th Revolution. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, 2025 is ‘Rights, Equality, Empowerment, Development of Women and Girls’. In order to link women’s rights with state formation, reforms are necessary to remove the weaknesses and discrimination in the constitution regarding women’s rights.
Equal rights for women are considered a daily need. This is definitely an urgent issue for women. Therefore, it has become essential to work with gender equality in mind, not just on one day, i.e. March 8, but also for the rest of the year.
