7 people to receive Freedom Award

Seven eminent personalities are receiving the Swadhinata Award 2025 in recognition of their glorious and meritorious contributions at the national level. The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Tuesday (March 11) listing the nominees for the highest national award.
The individuals for whom the government has decided to confer the Swadhinata Award this year include Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (posthumously) in science and technology, Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (posthumously) in literature, Novera Ahmed (posthumously) in culture, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumously) in social service, Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan alias Azam Khan (posthumously) in liberation war and culture, Badruddin Mohammad Umar in education and research, and Abrar Fahad (posthumously) in protest youth.
It is worth noting that the government has been giving this award every year since 1977 on the occasion of Independence Day on March 26.
