Imams and muezzins are receiving interest-free microloans under the supervision of the Ministry of Religion. Imams and muezzins who have undergone training at the Imam Training Academy of the Islamic Foundation will be provided with this assistance from the ‘Imam-Muezzin Welfare Trust’. In addition, financially insolvent imams and muezzins will also be provided with financial assistance from this trust. This information was given in a press release sent by the Ministry of Religion on Monday (March 24).
In the current fiscal year 2024-25, 600 imams and muezzins across the country have been given interest-free loans of Tk 1.8 million. In the same fiscal year, 4,620 imams and muezzins are being distributed Tk 2.31 million as financial assistance. Out of this, Tk 1.475 million has been distributed to 295 people in Dhaka district. The work of distributing the remaining money among the selected people is underway. A total of Tk 4.11 million is being distributed to these two sectors from the Imam-Muezzin Welfare Trust.
