Jamuna railway bridge has been officially inaugurated

The country’s largest Jamuna railway bridge has been officially inaugurated. The Ibrahimabad railway station was inaugurated at the Tangail end on Tuesday (March 18) at 11:40 am. Bangladesh Railway Secretary Fahimul Islam was present as the chief guest at the event. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinchi and JICA’s South Asia Division Director General Mr. Ito Teruaki were present as special guests. Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain presided over the event.

After the discussion and inauguration ceremony at Ibrahimabad station, they will travel by train to Sayedabad railway station in Sirajganj. The Jamuna railway bridge authority is scheduled to hold a press conference from there. In order to solve this huge problem, an initiative was taken to construct a separate railway bridge 300 meters upstream of the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge on March 3, 2020, and the foundation stone of the railway bridge was laid on November 29 of that year.
The construction of the country’s largest railway bridge has been implemented by the Japanese company OTG and IHI Joint Venture. Five Japanese contracting companies implemented this huge project. The construction of the bridge was completed after 4 years of hard work by more than 7,000 workers from Japan, Vietnam, Nepal, Australia, the Philippines and Bangladesh.
