The International Crimes Tribunal, ICT, has sent three police personnel, including MM Mainul Islam, former assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) of Mirpur Division, to jail in a case over the crimes against humanity and mass killing during the July-August student-people Movement.
Two others accused are former police officer Md Arshad Hossain who grabbed protesting student Nahid Islam’s face, and former sub-inspector (SI) Chanchal Chandra Sarkar who shot a student hanging from the cornis of a building in Dhaka’s Rampura during the movement.
ICT judges Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Justice Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury passed the order on Tuesday, January 28.
Earlier, former SI Chanchal was produced before the tribunal this morning, while ADC Mainul, and former police officer Arshad were presented this afternoon.
