The National Citizens Party (NCP) is going to propose to increase the minimum age to run for office in the elections given by the National Consensus Commission from 21 to 23 years. And it will submit the proposal to increase the voting age to 16 years tomorrow. The party’s joint convener Sarwar Tushar said this at a press conference at the temporary office of the National Citizens Party in Bangla Motor on Saturday (March 22) morning.

Sarwar Tushar said that they will submit the proposals and opinions of the National Consensus Commission on Sunday afternoon. In addition, the Consensus Commission has said that 111 out of 166 reform proposals can be implemented without discussion. However, the NCP demands that further discussion be needed on these 111 recommendations.

Stating that the 1972 constitution is not acceptable, he said that the country needs a new constitution. He also opined that elections to the Constituent Assembly should be held in the next election.
