The Coast Guard has arrested five members of the pirate Shahin Bahini in a raid on the Tentulia River in Bhola. Local weapons, drugs and three trawlers were seized from them. Based on a secret tip-off, the Coast Guard conducted a special raid on the Tentulia River in Bheduria Union of Sadar Upazila at midnight on Tuesday (March 18). Five members of the pirate Shahin Bahini were caught red-handed while preparing for a robbery.

The arrested persons are Md. Mamun Molla, Anwar Hawlader, Md. Jewel Sheikh, Pannu Molla, Nazmul Hawlader. All of them live in Sreepur Union of Mehendiganj Upazila of Barisal. The Coast Guard said that 4 local weapons, 10 grams of marijuana and 3 trawlers were seized from the pirates caught in the raid.

At a press conference on Wednesday morning, Coast Guard Southern Zone Staff Officer (Operations) Lieutenant Commander Rifat Ahmed said, “The arrested have been involved in robbing fishermen trawlers in the Tentulia River for a long time. They will be handed over to Bhola Sadar Model Police Station for legal action against them.” The law enforcement agency said that necessary action will be taken against the pirates after the legal process is completed.
