Nation in turmoil over rape protests

The Dhaka University campus was in turmoil all day with protests demanding a fair investigation into the nationwide rape and atrocities against women and the maximum punishment for rapists.
The five demands of the anti-rape stage:
1. In the case of child rape in Magura, a special tribunal should be formed to submit the investigation report within 7 days.
2. A special tribunal should be formed in the trial of each rape case, and all rape cases should be tried quickly by completing the trial process.
3. The Home Affairs Advisor, Legal Advisor, and Women and Child Affairs Advisor should be held accountable for their failures on the issue of women and children’s safety.
4. An ‘Anti-Women and Child Abuse Cell’ should be formed in all educational institutions and workplaces .
5. The laws related to rape, sexual abuse, and ‘cyber bullying’ on social media should be amended to clearly and appropriately define the crimes.
