RAB-11 has arrested a man for allegedly stopping a passenger bus at Narayanganj Port and robbing two expatriates. He was arrested from Aminbagh Bansherpul area of Demra Police Station in the capital on Tuesday night. The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Haque alias Swapan (45). Company Commander of RAB-11 Major Anabil Imam confirmed the information about his arrest.
Major Anabil Imam said that on January 14, two Dubai expatriates named Abu Hanif and Rajib Bhuiyan were going to Comilla from the port in a bus. When they reached Keodala in Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, robbers in a white microbus stopped the bus. They took the two off the bus and put them in the microbus. They tied their hands and feet, beat them up, and robbed them of 2.135 million taka, two mobile phones, three passports, clothes, and other valuables. After wandering around for 3-4 hours, the robbers fled, leaving the two of them on the side of an abandoned road in Dhaka’s Demra area in the evening.
