The new secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works is the Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, Md. Nazrul Islam. A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (March 25).

Nazrul Islam joined the post of Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division on January 6. This officer of the 11th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre started his career in the office of the Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner in 1993 as an Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate.

In 1995, he was appointed on deputation as a District Anti-Corruption Officer and played a special role in preventing corruption by performing that duty for about three years. In addition, he served as Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Additional Deputy Commissioner in the field administration with dedication. He served as Senior Assistant Secretary in the Secretariat, Ministry of Education; as Private Secretary to the Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Local Government Division, Public Safety Division and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He also served as a ‘Project Coordinator’ in a Bill Gates Foundation project.
