The Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) has started activities to bring the autocratic Sheikh Hasina and her family members back to the country. Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid, Commissioner of the Agency, said this while talking to reporters at the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha on Tuesday.

She said the legal process has begun to bring Sheikh Hasina and her family members back home. The initiative has been taken to ensure investigations and trials of multiple cases of murder, disappearance, corruption, fraud and abuse of power.

Brigadier Hafiz said Sheikh Hasina’s nephew and UK Minister Tulip Siddiqui will also be tried as a citizen of Bangladesh. Since the fall of the Awami League government in August 2021, various palaces have been brought back to Sheikh Hasina and demanding justice. In the commentary of the agitators, during his rule, human rights violations, democracy deprivation and huge amount of corruption have taken place.

Recently, the Election Commission (EC) has ‘lock’ the National Identity Card (NID), a member of her family. An order of the EC’s National Identity Registration Department said that the move was taken under the direction of the authorities in February. The ACC said Interpol assistance would be taken if needed in addition to receiving international cooperation to ensure the trial.
