Speedboat and bulkhead traffic suspended

Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor on Shipping and Labor and Employment, has ordered the suspension of speedboat and bulkhead operations at night from the 15th of Ramadan.

He gave this instruction at a briefing after a preparatory meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday (March 6) to ensure smooth movement of watercraft on various waterways of the country, ensure the safety of passengers and take appropriate action.

Brigadier Sakhawat Hossain warned that if a vessel charges more than the prescribed fare, not only will it be fined, but the route permit of that launch will also be suspended. In addition, no additional passengers can be taken on a launch during the Eid journey.
