Death from falling from the roof

A five-year-old child died after falling from the roof of a building while playing in Chittagong. The incident took place on Friday (March 14) afternoon in the city’s Bandar Police Station No. 2 Mile Mata area. The deceased was identified as Md. Ramzan (5), son of Bablu Mal of Char Biswas village of Galachipa Police Station in Patuakhali. They lived in a rented house in Aziz Bhaban in the city’s Mile Mata area.
Eyewitnesses said that the child was playing on the roof of Ranjan Bhaban. Suddenly, he lost his balance and fell from the cornice of the roof. He was seriously injured after being pierced by a rod of the boundary wall below. On receiving the information, the fire service went to the spot and rescued the child.
Chittagong Fire Service Station Officer Mahbub Elahi said that the child died on the spot before they could leave. Later, the body was recovered and handed over to EPZ Police Station for legal proceedings.
