The people of Bangladesh have a sea, which encourages them to do business with different countries. The Chief Advisor said this during an interaction with the local people at the BIAM Auditorium in Cox’s Bazar on Friday (March 14). The quote was, ‘We are fortunate enough to have a sea. Sea is very important for business.’

Highlighting the maritime potential, the Chief Advisor said that Bangladesh has a long coastline and it is possible to build a seaport anywhere on the coastline of Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar has undergone a major transformation. It is not only a tourist city but also a hub of the economy.

Noting that Nepal and India’s Seven Sisters do not have a sea, Dr. Yunus stressed the need to use Bangladesh’s seaport for mutual benefit. He inquired about the potential of wind power generation in Cox’s Bazar on a pilot basis as well as wind power.

Urging the local people to utilize the opportunities in the future, the Chief Advisor said that Cox’s Bazar is a great economic powerhouse and it can also be a city of information technology. He wanted to know from the local people about the impact of the Rohingya infiltration on them. In the exchange of views, people from different classes and professions presented various proposals and demands before the Chief Advisor for the development of Cox’s Bazar.
