Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury criticised the students of Titumir College on Monday (February 3) for causing public inconvenience through their protests demanding the conversion of the government-run college into an independent university.

The adviser made these remarks following a meeting on law and order and security measures ahead of Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day celebrations.

“They [Titumir College students] are creating unnecessary harassment for the public,” Chowdhury said. “Their demands seem to be escalating daily. You know there is an agenda behind this, but it isn’t being highlighted publicly.”

Earlier on Monday, at 3:40pm, the students blocked the railway line in Mohakhali, halting train services and forcing some trains to reverse course. As a result, road traffic between Mohakhali and Jahangir Gate remains disrupted, with both directions closed due to the ongoing blockade.
