The holy month of Ramadan may begin tomorrow. Watermelon is a popular juicy fruit for iftar during Ramadan. Many people break their fast with watermelon sherbet. Many people want to include fruits like watermelon in their iftar diet. Meanwhile, the weather is gradually starting to warm up after the winter mood. Overall, watermelons are being seen on the eve of Ramadan. The demand for watermelon sales is increasing.
New watermelons have started arriving in the market in full swing for a week. Watermelons are being sold at 60-70 taka per kg in various retail markets in the capital. However, retailers said that the watermelon market has not yet been saturated. They hope that the market will be saturated when Ramadan begins.
This information was learned after visiting Agargaon, Taltala, Mohammadpur Agricultural Market, Town Hall Market and Karwan Bazar in the capital today, Saturday. While visiting the markets, it was seen that the crowd of buyers at watermelon shops was relatively high. Some people are buying watermelons after bargaining, but they are leaving after hearing a high price. Usually, watermelon cultivation starts in December. The full season of watermelons lasts from April to May. However, some early (previously grown) watermelons come to the market at the end of February or beginning of March. Currently, only such early watermelons are being sold in the market.
